GreenSpaces

Version Parco Sempione - 2026.04

LessWaiting.

Smoother Work.

The 2026.04 release marks an important step in the evolution of GreenSpaces. It introduces visible improvements to everyday work with large datasets and begins a new naming tradition for GreenSpaces versions.

GreenSpaces is built to manage complex urban green inventories: trees, lawns, shrubs, hedges, playground equipment, irrigation systems, street furniture and other open-space elements in one geographic database. It supports inspections, maintenance planning, documents, photos, field work, reporting and collaboration between municipalities, companies, contractors and specialists.

As these inventories grow, performance matters. The Parco Sempione release focuses on making large operations easier to handle, so you can spend less time waiting and more time planning, managing and caring.

What changes in this release

Large imports and exports now run in the background

Imports and Exports that previously required users to wait several minutes can now be processed in the background. You can start an import/export and continue using GreenSpaces while the system processes the file.

This is a practical improvement for teams working with large inventories, operational planning, reporting and data analysis. It reduces interruption and makes GreenSpaces more reliable during demanding tasks.

A more responsive experience

This release also improves the way GreenSpaces handles large and complex data operations. Users should notice a smoother and more responsive experience, especially when working with extensive inventories and data-heavy workflows.

GreenSpaces versions now are named

Starting with this release, GreenSpaces versions will have both a number and a name.

The version number remains important for technical tracking. The name gives each release a clearer identity and connects the evolution of the software to the world it helps manage: urban green spaces.

GreenSpaces releases will be named after urban public parks. This choice reflects the purpose of the platform. GreenSpaces goes much beyond managing individual trees or isolated assets. It is about the care of living, shared and complex green infrastructure: places that provide shade, safety, recreation, biodiversity, climate adaptation and quality of life.

Why Parco Sempione

The first named release is dedicated to Parco Sempione in Milan.

Parco Sempione is one of Milan’s symbolic public parks, described by the City of Milan as a landmark green space in the heart of the city. It also has a direct connection with GreenSpaces: the City of Milan has managed Parco Sempione with GreenSpaces for more than 20 years.

Over that time, both the park’s management and GreenSpaces itself have evolved. That makes Parco Sempione the right name for this release: a version focused on making the management of complex green inventories faster, smoother and more reliable.

New Features

Shapefile import and data export now running in the background

Importing shapefiles and exporting data no longer require you to wait. Both operations now run in the background, so you can keep working while your files are being processed.

What changed and why

Previously, importing a shapefile required you to keep the browser open and wait for the operation to complete before doing anything else. For large files, this could take a significant amount of time. The same was true for data exports. With this update, both operations run in the background, you can navigate freely, work on other things, or even close the browser entirely without interrupting the process.

What's new

When you start an import or an export, the operation begins immediately. Once the file is ready, a green circle appears on the bell icon next to your username to let you know new content is available. This bell icon replaces the previous print icon and is now called "Background activity", it contains prints, exports, and import results all in one place.

• For shapefile imports, you will see a clear summary of the results: how many records were imported, how many were ignored because they were identical to existing data, and how many could not be imported. If any records failed, you can download a file listing each one with the reason for the failure, so you can correct and re-import only the data which were not imported.

 • For exports, the file will be available for download directly from the "Background activity", clearly labelled with the list name, format, and date.

• The import and export buttons have also been visually updated and aligned for consistency.

Good to know

Import results, export files, and prints are available for 30 days, after which they are automatically deleted. Make sure to download any files you need within that time.

Before starting an import, GreenSpaces will automatically check your file for common issues and let you know immediately if something needs to be corrected.

Job Priority - Now Visible and Actionable Across GreenSpaces

When planning jobs in GreenSpaces, you can select a priority level (e.g. High, Medium, Low) to reflect how urgently a job needs to be addressed. Until now, that selection was only used to compute dates and was then discarded, making it impossible to act on later.

Priority is now saved with the job and available throughout your workflow.

What's new:

Priority column in the job list: the priority of each planned job is now displayed directly in the job list, so you can see at a glance how urgent each job is.

Sort by priority: you can sort the job list by priority to bring the most critical work to the top, independently of scheduled dates.

Filter by priority: the advanced filter now includes priority as a filter option, making it easier to focus on a specific subset of jobs (e.g. all High priority jobs in a given period).

Priority visible in the job form: when you open a job's detail form, the priority is shown alongside the other job information. If no priority was set, the field is not displayed.

Good to know:

Priority is saved at the time the job is created regardless of how the job was generated (manual entry, inspection, non-conformity, VTA, etc.).

If a job is rescheduled, its priority does not change automatically, it stays as originally assigned.

Priority is a read-only field on saved jobs, it reflects the urgency assessed at planning time.

Quality Improvements

Tree Risk Assessment: Updated to Protocollo Aretè 4.0

The risk calculation used for tree assessments with the method Valutazione del rischio has been updated to align with Protocollo Aretè 4.0, which replaces version 3.2. All new assessments now use the updated methodology automatically, keeping your work compliant with the latest standards.

What's new:

Updated risk calculation: all new tree risk assessments apply the Protocollo Aretè 4.0 calculation automatically, including assessments created by copy or from planning. This corresponds to calculation sheet version 2.0, which replaces version 1.2 used with Protocollo 3.2.

Calculation version displayed in the form: the assessment form now includes a dedicated field showing the version of the calculation sheet applied (v1.2 or v2.0), so the methodological basis of each assessment is always clear and traceable.

Version included in print and export: the calculation sheet version appears in the printed assessment report and in the Excel export.

Existing prints remain unchanged: reports that were already generated and saved are not affected by this update.

For assessments already in progress (not yet validated):

Existing unvalidated assessments are not automatically recalculated, arborists can validate them as-is, with the calculation sheet version (v1.2) clearly stated in the form.

If you open an existing unvalidated assessment in edit mode, GreenSpaces will prompt you to apply the updated v2.0 calculation. You can accept to proceed with the new methodology, or decline to continue in view-only mode.

Good to know:

The calculation version field is read-only, it is set automatically and cannot be manually changed.

Assessments created by copying an existing one always use the latest calculation (v2.0), regardless of which version the original used.

Improved sync recovery after interruptions

The GreenSpaces Mobile app now detects when a previous sync was interrupted - for example due to a lost connection or the app being closed mid-sync - and guides you through recovering it on next launch.

If the interruption happened during upload, a banner will inform you and let you choose to resume the sync or continue working and sync later. Your local data remains intact in either case.

If the interruption happened after your data was already uploaded, the app will prompt you to complete the download before continuing. This is required to ensure your local database stays consistent with the server.

These improvements prevent data loss and ensure your local app data is always in a valid, up-to-date state after a sync is resumed.

Rename "defect" and "area defects" of a tree assessment to "Feature" and "Area features"

In tree assessments, "Defects" have been renamed to "Features", in order to be able to assess all kinds of features like a "Bird nest", which are not necessarily negative (i.e. not a "defect"). By consequence, "Defect types" became "Feature areas", as in "the area of a tree where a feature has to be verified", such as the root ball, trunk, crown, etc.

Fixes

Passages module on the mobile does not recognise the nearest site

Fixed the automatic assignment of sites in the Passages module on mobile.

User group description no longer has a character limit

When creating a new user group, entering a long description caused an unhandled error on save. The character limit on the description field has been removed and the error no longer occurs.

Note: user groups are managed exclusively by R3GIS. If you need a new user group created or modified, please contact: support@r3gis.com.

Tree advanced filter: missing translations in non-Italian installations

In the tree advanced filter, three field labels in the Tree section were displayed in Italian regardless of the installation language. This has been fixed and the labels are now correctly translated in the language of the user.

Tree advanced filter: diameter range now works correctly for multi-stem trees

When filtering trees by a diameter range (from/to) on multi-stem trees, the results were incorrect. For example, filtering for diameter between 20 and 30 cm would also return trees where one stem was below 20 and another above 30, as long as the two conditions were each satisfied by a different stem. The filter now correctly returns only trees where at least one stem falls within the specified range.

List sort order is now preserved when changing page

When sorting a list and then navigating to a record and back, the sort order was correctly maintained. However, changing to another page of the list caused the sort order to reset to the default. This has been fixed, the sort order is now preserved when paginating through the list.

Company visibility on sites improved behavior

Companies can be assigned to sites, making the site and all its contents visible to that company's users.

If a company is not assigned to a site but has an active job there, the system automatically flags it as Temporarily visible. Previously, this flag appeared to be manually editable, this was a bug and has been fixed.

What's new:

The "Temporarily visible" checkbox is now only shown when a company actually has that status (set by the system, not the user).

A user can uncheck the box to formally assign the company to the site, after which the checkbox disappears.

To fully remove a company from a site, delete it from the assigned companies list.

If the company still has open jobs on that site at the time of deletion, it will automatically revert to "Temporarily visible" until all jobs are closed or the checkbox is unchecked again.
